The contacts would have been saved to your Google account and loaded from your account to your phone. Unfortunately, if you have removed the contacts from the location where your phone was getting them from, you will not be able to retrieve them. I apologise for the inconvenience this causes you 
Did you by chance have a back up of your phone created at some point?
