Camera crashes when photo is taken

Hi there,

The camera on my Z1 crashes when I take a photo. The camera looks normal and is working fine but when you take the picture, the phone just freezes. I don't know what the problem is. The screen just shows the little blue square in the centre of the screen where it has focused but holds that screen rather than taking a picture. I have to exit by holding the power button and then going to the menu. When I run a test for the camera in the diagnostics in settings, the same things happens again.

Thanks in advance for your help

Arthur

Hopefully the suggestion from Alexdon will work. If not, I would suggest that you try to boot your phone into safe mode to see if the problem may be related to any 3rd party app that you have installed in your phone:

i had been doing the same thing. helps as a band aid.

still waiting for an absolute fix.

stuff like "camera is not available..." can't really remember the exact phrase

been popping up on random scenarios like pulling up the camera from a chat application, e.g. viber

right after, when pulling up the camera from the main camera app itself, would do the same thing like yours

IDK if its an issue with the chat app, can't really tell, viber is my buddy, can't count on how many times i would use it each day

a reboot is a must, i had not been minding this since you can just fix it yourself, however though by doing a reboot. Dizzy_Face

I have tried everything, including full master reset and it still locks up. This has only started since kitkat 442. My symptoms are go into camera mode and it sometimes locks and I have to press the power button and unlock.but even then it can lock up after some pictures are taken and I have to repeat the power button process.

Sony really needs to give an update version which fixes all these issues.cannot blame on other app while they still work perfect with competitor phones...
Just 1 week of use...hope no other issues pops out

Hit the nail on the head there, spot on.
