Can no longer use Transfer to SD card with the new firmware update 23.0.1.A.3.12

I just got the latest update for my Z2. My device now has a firmware 23.0.1.A.3.12.

I encountered a problem. I can no longer transfer photos to SD card thru the Transfer to SD Card under Storage.

I'd consider performing a system repair as this will often fix issues after an upgrade - This will factory reset your phone

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

I find the best and most reliable way is to connect your device to a Pc etc and use the copy and paste feature then once you are sure they have transferred, delete from internal storage

@kiko did you get any error message? What is the path for the photo when you go to detail?
I have this weird problem in my Z2 where transfer to SD can't find any more media file (pictures, videos, music) on device memory but storage claimed there are 27 Mb worth of media files there.

@Xperiyan yes, I got an error message saying transfer is interrupted. I got a screenshot of the process until I got the error.

Anyway, I fist go to Settings-Storage-Transfer data to SD card. I have 14 files under photos to transfer with a large space in SD card. After clicking transfer, I get an error message saying: "Transfer interrupted. Check your SD card for possibly transferred data." And no, no data is transferred.
I tried transferring files using File Commander with no problems.

@Thommo I know that. But what is the use of our device when we need a PC everytime we transfer files from a storage in our device? This could not have been a problem if Kitkat did not restrict writing to SD card.

Hi,

Could you try to boot your phone into safe mode to see if you are able to transfer any content?

Hello @Hampus,

I did as instructed. Restarted the phone to safe mode, then I tried moving the files again, still the sme error. Here are the steps that I made since I can now upload images using my laptop.

Step 2:

Step 3, the error:

Did the same with the safe mode. Still the same error.

Your Z2 appears to be modified based on the AOSP icons at the bottom - Have you altered the permissions for the SD card write capability

@Thommo. Oh hi, no. This is just a theme I installed to change the buttons recently. The problem was there before I did this change. As proof, here it is again after removing the theme and applying the default theme of Xperia.

Regarding the SD card write capability permissions, I do not know how to do that really. Can you please show me?

Also, all I did this morning was update the firmware my Z2 based on the email I got from Sony Support and an alert from the Update Centre. I used the PC companion which also alerted to be updated before the download of the firmware began, which I did too. After the successful update, the phone restarted and used it normally.

Then until the notif told me that my storage is more than 75% full, and prompted to transfer files, which I do all the time by the way, but this time, this error occured.
