can't start phone

I had my phone turned off for no apparent reason. Before that the battery was about 27%. Couldn't start after charging it for hours. By the way when it's being charged, the red led was on. Tried power+vol up and the off button next to sim slot but none of these works. Also tried connecting to my mac and pc but it's not detected by Sony bridge or pc companion. Need help to revive it.

You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

Thanks but these steps did work for me. My computer still cannot detect the phone.

When it is connect with vol down held down, the LED was red (same as when I charge it) then it turned off for 1 second, and on again. But the computer cannot detect it.

Make sure your device is completely turned off by pressing the small button near the SIM tray.Connect it with volume down pressed when you are prompted but with the device turned off.

Hey thanks man. I tried that but it is still the same: LED red when connected to computer (I held down vol down before connecting and did not release as I followed the steps), off for a while, then on again.

Maybe my phone has got some real internal defect that it actually needs to be sent to repair/replace?
