Diagnostics / Light Sensor

Hi,

So I've just run a diagnostic check to make sure all is well & it's failing the Light Sensor test.

The test shows an image & asks if it fades when I cover the upper part of the device, however the image fades as soon as I run the test (without anything covering the upper part of the device)

So a few questions, if I may:

  1. Where is the light sensor?
  2. What does it do?
  3. Any idea why the test isn't working?

Thanks in anticipation?

Paul

1.The light sensor in Xperia Z1 Compact is located with Proximity Sensor itself. Which is around 3/4 cm rightfrom the Sony logo.

2.Light sensor will determine the amount of light hitting infront of the phone. Then,it will automatically adjust the brightness of the phone accordingly(if you enable auto-adjust brightness).

3.The common causes of sensors not to work properly is due to something either protective case, screen protector etc that covers up the sensor area and/or 3rd party apps that might mess up with the sensors.

What you can do now is try to boot to Safe Mode and run Diagnostics again

Boot to Safe Mode

Press and hold Power Button > Tap and hold POWER OFF > Tap OK to boot to safe mode

To exit safe mode, just restart normally.

Thank You Very Much!

I followed your instructions to reboot in Safe Mode then ran the diagnostic check & the Light Sensor passed

I then restarted as normal & ran the diagnostic check again & it passed again!

Cheers
