Does this gap has a function?

Hi, I have just bought a new Xperia z1 Compact and I want to take care of it by using a leather cover. One thing i saw is that some covers have got a gap upright the led lamp on the back and some has not. I am not sure if I buy a covered one will it affect my phone's functionality.

Hi, without seeing a detailed picture i would recommend NOT buying a cover that covers any part of the LED or Camera......as this will interfere with the function of the LED whilst taking a picture

Isn't that the microphone for noise suppression @Hampus ? Is it ok to cover it?

I'm sorry, I've mistaken myself. Thank you for pointing that out alexdon. It's actually the second microphone (used while recording movies e.g). So no, it would not be that good to cover this part.

No worries,I knew it was the secondary mic for noise suppression. Thanks for clarifying.
