hi there, our cell phone sleeps with nothing but a dark screen. So instead of the dark black screen, I'd like to activate the desk clock so that I can always see the time without having to on the phone. Is it currently possible on the xperia Z1?
Thanks
Solved! Go to Solution.
In settings go to Developer Options and there is an option to not have your screen sleep when it's charging. That should work when it's on a dock too right?
Go to Settings and then Developer Options. There is an option to turn off 'sleep when charging'. Or something along those lines.. so it should work on a dock? I just bought a docking station so I'll try tonight.

I don't have any "Developer Options" on my Settings menu. Is this option somewhere else, or requires some command or setting to be visible?
I want exactly the same function as 'JimmyJames709' describes above. This function of the desk clock is available on my Xperia S, but not on my Xperia Z1.
To get the developer options,go in the about phone section, tap about 5-6 times on build number.
Although this has been marked as "solution provided" but i dont agree with it.
The problem lies with the Sont Xperia Z1 Desktop clock application, which can be launched by going to the Alarms and Clock app, click on the three dots at bottom left, then click on "Desk Clock".
This desk clock app should keep the screen awake, as is used to happen in previous Sony models like Arc S.
Sony should fix this app.
PS: click on the screen while in Desk Clock mode to switch backgrouds and give Kudos to me isf i told you some thing new
Before I updated the OS on my Z to 4.3 (yesterday) the clock happily displayed all night when charging.
It seemed to have a sort of override like some of my 3'red party apps, which are not subject to screen timeout or lock.
Sadly, like most of you, I now have to wake up enough to unlock the phone in order to find out that I have enough time to go back to sleep. Someone at Sony doesn't like me.
