Z3 Bent

Ok so posted this yesterday but it was deleted, not sure why...

Had my Z3 for about 8 months now, my partner does a lot of bogging and we used the 4k recording but after about 4 months started noting a little yellow patch on the screen but barely noticable, figured it must be from the heat of the phone as it got rather hot while recroding video. Eventually the patch got significantly worse and I read onlien that this is a known issue and I should send the phone back.

So sent the phone in for repairs, other than the yellowing of the screen nothing else wrong.

Get a message from Sony that they want £126 to repair the screen. So contact support and I get told the phone is bent and I should either pay to repair or pay to ship the phone back, tried discussing the issue with the support staff but he told me that those are my choices and asked if he could help with anything else.

Managed to get a picture,

Now a couple of things, I am not stupid enough to put my phone in my back pocket, I don't wear tight fitting denims which may cause it to bend in the front pocket and I never noticed any bend when I had the phone.

What other options do I have, is there any way to escelate the issue?

Hi @TheGroveUK,

Welcome to the community.

The yellow spot that appeared is probably screen bruising. It usually appears when too much pressure is applied to a screen. If your device is bent, it is very likely going to be the cause of this.

Unfortunately, as this is classed as physical damage it is highly unlikely that they will be able to cover this under the conditions of the warranty.

Only your local support team can assist you with this, but I am afraid they probably aren't going to be able to overturn the decision in this case. I am really sorry about your experience. Slightly_frowning_Face

I'm sorry to hear that but this is a user based forum, the phone can't bend on its own, with that said, the only thing I can suggest is to keep insisting on your Local support

As for your post, did posted using the same account? because this account only has one post, this post.

Thanks for the reply, yup posted using this account so not sure what happened.

I'm posting here as I am not sure what else to do, been through Sony support twice now both times they where rather rude and just refused point blank to discuss the matter further.

And yes, I get that a phone will not just bend on its own but this just seems a bt rediculous, no issues like this with my s6 or s7 edge.

The yellowing started while recording 4k video with the phone in a tripod, that would mean the phone bent in the tripod which I find hard to believe looking at how the phone clips into the tripod.

@TheGroveUK,

It's impossible for me to say how it happened, I can only go by the evidence and make assumptions based on that.

Still, if you wish to escalate this, you will have to do so with your local support team, as this is a user based international forum.
