Hi all,
So ive just moved to android from iOS. But anyway in the quick settings on my z3 my wifi is turned on. When im connected to a wifi network the phone works perfectly.
My issue is that the wifi turns itself off when I leave my home or workplace. i.e. When im not connected to wifi and im outside it turns itself off. Now my question is that normal? After some testing I noticed the issue is intermittent and it turns on and off everynow and then when im not connected to wifi.
Coming from an engineering background I would initially suspect its a fault with the wifi chip however I dont want to jump ahead just yet.
My settings are:
Network notification: On(ticked)
Keep wifi on during sleep: Always
Scanning always available: Off(not ticked)
Avoid poor connections: On
rest is standard.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi, under Settings - Power Management ...do you have Location based Wi Fi set to ON.,,,:smileyconfused:
Just curios is that a guess or actually a resolution to the problem. Reason I ask is because it says that google apps can search for wifi which im not liking the sound of. As I said im a new droid user
Just checked yes that option is turned on.
What that option does is that when you leave the house for example your Wi Fi connection disables from your router.......it automatically turns on when you are near a saved Wi Fi network like your home, but also in your notification bar it lets you know if Wi Fi networks are available say for example in a restaurant .......
thanks very much dandy63. That solved it. Much appreciated!
Hi, my pleasure.......enjoy the Android system, far more to experiment with & to make your phone more the way you want it to look/operate.....enjoy :smileysmileywink:
