Apple TV 2nd Generation and Sony Bravia KDL-40W5710

Apple TV 2nd Generation and Sony Bravia KDL-40W5710

I know this is old technology but it’s become a challenge !

Connected the Apple TV 2nd Gen to Sony Bravia KDL-40W5710, I get the apple logo and then a black screen.

I've done the hold menu button and down arrow so it’s scans and Adair get the apple logo , press ok then just a blank screen..I’ve reset TV to factory default made no difference.

works fine on the 2020 Samsung downstairs, I’ve used the TV to change to different outputs and took it back upstairs and nothing..

tried different HDMI cables and HDMI ports ( there are 4) with still no luck...

someone please help while I still have some Hair left

Hi,

Probably the output signal/resolution of the Apple TV is not supported by the TV.

Or a newer HDMI/HDCP version is needed.

Cheers

The output of the Apple TV is changeable..........I've tried various outputs using 720p to 1080p and both 50 and 60hz, Also put TV on Auto select

I agree with Peter, this is most likely due to a difference in HDCP versions, which means that this TV is too old to work with the Apple TV, I'm not quite sure about the release date of the TV but the Manual has a release year of 2009, while the Apple TV is more recent.

And a quick Google search shows the versions of HDCP and their release dates.

You can perhaps try to update the TV to the latest available version if it's not already up to date.

Hope this helps!

TV is at it last eat firmware....it’s very annoying as the Apple logo comes up so it is able to communicate...excuse for another new TV at least
