I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.
Why do they say there is a firmware update for the 22nd Dec?
Try clicking on the link and its not found...
I give up!
And I thought it was just me having these issues... Have already had the TV replaced once (49x8307)...
My wife wants me to return the TV, a real shame as it is a lovely looking piece of tech, just a little 'too smart' me thinks.
Issues we are seeing include, TV behaving like a radio (ie just a black screen with sound), unresponsive to remote (and remote app), forgetting channels, no 'recommendations' on home screen, TV won't turn off, lip sync slightly out, TV guide is almost unusable sometimes.
If the next software release doesn't resolve these problems I think it will have to go back. Anyone know what the official return policy is on dud TVs? Was bought from Sony Centre mid-November.
Just got a new mail from Sony Dev. This update is currently released in Scandinavia only.
A new Android firmware has just been released yesterday evening: 3.155 in order to improve software stability further.
This SW version release will be OND, not OTA.
Just as reference, OND means package through website only, so no automatic software update to the TV (this to mitigate the risk close to Xmas for design), meaning customers need to download the firmware and make the update themselves.
This package includes:
- Reboot issue improved
- Black screen when powering on
- Reboot when turning off from remote controller
- HDMI 2.0a support
- Overall performance & stability
There will be no Live Recording included, this is foreseen in 1 step end of February for Europe (End of March for UK)
@mattstev Next release is end of march 2016 (hopefully). Retrun policy if it has passed 30day.. then depends of your skill how you convience them that TV is not fit for Purpose....
Good luck
Thanks @jain236 I think I have sufficient evidence to prove the TV is not really working as advertised 🙂
Hopefully it won't come to that though.
Given there are new s/w releases seemingly happening around the EU, fingers crossed they are working on a suitable release for us in the UK - before March
cheers, Matthew

MARCH????????????????????????????????????????????????? WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK THEY ARE?
Hi @adyjay33,
There's an updated communication planned today on the UK suport pages about schedules for your country. However, indeed as you mention, the updated page is not yet accessible which is due to server-synching issues.
So, if you click and it does not work, please try again. It is being fixed.
The page says:
Further to the update issued on 10th December 2015, we would like to inform you about the current planned schedule for upcoming firmware updates.
We are in the process of preparing a firmware update that will further enhance the TV’s performance, and will address the following possible issues:
In accordance with our current schedule it is planned that this firmware update should be available by end of February 2016.
Kind regards
Peter
Hi Jain,
It's the same old Peter - noted the issue as well and guess it was a system hick-up.
Have a nice Christmas time
Cheers
Peter

This is getting ridiculous...
The 10th Dec update was supposed to fix the same problems... are these TV's just unfixable?
I will give up Sony...THEN WHEN I DO EVERYONE WILL KNOW HOW RUBBISH YOUR TV'S ARE!
Sony sort it out!
