Chromecast app not detecting buildin Chromecast Bravia TV

I guess it's not supposed to be detected! allowing us to setup the chromecast from this APP

https://www.google.com/chromecast/setup/

I was hoping it would work though primary because of the great offers that come along with a google chromecast device

https://www.google.com/chromecast/get-offers/

But again this seems not to be the case with the build in chromecast devices!

Have looked in forums about build in chromecast and did not find any information, so that's why i'm trying here 🙂

Cheers

You didn't specify which television are you talking about....

Assuming you have an Android TV you cannot set it up simply because it is already configured and embedded in the Android TV OS!

Just use it!

With this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.chromecast.app you can do some things: even if by chance it doesn't show in the list of available devices you can still go to the menu and select the screen/audio trasmission option: you'll get (assuming you are on the same wifi network) your Sony Bravia 2015 device available as receiver. In the main page you'll see a list of compatible app you have installed that can send the output to your TV. It's really easy

Thanks, it's easy to use indeed.. I was just hoping that there was a change to get 3 month og free stuff like Spotify etc. with the built in chromecast like it's possible with a standalone chromecast.

I know now that's not the case 😉

Just use it! (Will Do)

I have just bought a KD-43X8305C but can't see Chromecast

Under RECENTLY UPDATED APPS Chromecast receiver is 'UP TO DATE'

The SYSTEM SOFTWARE is Version 5.1.1 and up-to-date

I was under the impression that Chromecast was supported - am I wrong ?

Hi there

The ability to 'cast' is built in.  Have you tried to cast from a smartphone or tablet?  If not, give it a try.

I also have a new Bravia running Android. The network controller on the TV is shocking.

The WiFi connects but cannot route traffic, yet some apps still work. The only resolution was to go via ethernet.

Then my Chromecast issues started. It has been 2 months since I bought the TV and I've been unable to cast for 6 weeks. Ive followed all the steps of on Sony's site (clearing down data, cache resetting the TV restarting the TV).  That worked one and then stopped working within 3 hours.

Chromecast does not pick up my device.  Every other device in my house my Google nest display smart speakers all appear, just not the TV.

The primary reason for buying an Android TV Chromecast have to have the external device, therefore this device is not fit for purpose.

The only resolution I have now is by an external Chromecast device again.
