How far into the ‘why?’ do we need to go?

The first layer of the onion is that your party speaker has mainly the iAP Bluetooth protocol, designed by Apple:-

https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/hi-fi-systems/mhc-v42d/specifications

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bluetooth_profiles#iPod_Accessory_Protocol_(iAP)

iPod Accessory Protocol (iAP)

iAP and later iAPv2 protocol are proprietary protocols developed by Apple Inc. for communication with 3rd party accessories for iPhones, iPods and iPads. Most bluetooth drivers and stacks for Windows don't support the iAP profile since using such protocols requires a MFi license from Apple and thus is displayed as "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" or "Not Supported Bluetooth Function" in Device Manager.

Though it also supports:-

Bluetooth
LDAC Yes AAC Yes A2DP(SINK) Yes
AVRCP Yes (Ver1.3) SPP Yes

I don’t know why Wikipedia doesn’t cover all of these in the Bluetooth entry above, but it does have entries for them all if you look.

So the next thing is what Bluetooth features does your TV have? Which I can’t answer, as Sony have a range of 49” 4K TVs, and you need to specify which one. And look it up online, if you like, for the entry comparable to the speaker one above, and report back what Bluetooth capabilities it has.

We then have three possibilities:-

Your TV does support the speaker;

If you had spent a bit more, you could have got a TV that supports it;

Sony don’t do joined-up thinking and make all their kit compatible, or just don’t do Bluetooth well at all, or are just plain ornery about it.

I wonder which it will be?

Hello, thank you for your answer.

The tv is Sony xh80. This are the details of the bluetooth that i found 😞

  • Version 4.2;HID (mouse/keyboard connectivity)/HOGP (Low Energy device connectivity)/SPP(Serial Port Profile)

I am very disappointed 😞

The main reason I bought the speaker was to be able to connect it to the TV via bluetooth.

😞

Look for Bluetooth Scanner on the Android TV Play Store.

Or sideload it from the regular Play Store if it’s not on the TV one.

This is supposed to fix these Bluetooth issues, though I have never tried it myself.
