[NEW] Firmware 6.5603 for ATV2 (DV Support for XF90/AF8)
Sony has just released an updated firmware for all ATV2 based models since mid-2016.
Changelog for 2018 models [LINK]
- Dolby Vision content is supported for video streaming apps/services installed on the TV such as Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.*
- Introduces the feature of adding new apps to “My Apps” on the TV menu bar
- Improves X-Motion Clarity control * Selected Sony TVs (XF90 and AF8 Series) will support Dolby Vision with the software update to be rolled out in Europe within June, 2018. To enjoy Dolby Vision content, the video streaming app/service must support Dolby Vision. For more information, please contact the app/service provider. In addition, after the Sony TV receives the software update, devices with Dolby Vision playback (such streaming media players and UHD Blu-ray players) that are connected to the Sony TV by HDMI will also require a software update to support Dolby Vision playback through the device. For more information on the timing of an update to a particular player, please contact the player’s manufacturer.
Changelog for 2016/2017 models [LINK]
- Introduces the ability to add new apps to “My Apps” on the TV menu bar
- Improves the user experience when registering favourite channels using the TV menu bar
- Improves the software update confirmation screen
- Reduces the time it takes for audio output to be heard from the Sound Bar when switching the TV on from standby
- Resolves an issue where the brightness decreases every time HDR content is played
- Resolves an issue where SDR content flashes/flickers while the TV's HDR setting is set to "Auto"
- Resolves an issue where lip sync error occurs when the Sound Bar is connected to TV
Unfortunately, this update does not seem to resolve the most severe issues currently in discussion, like several 50Hz issues (motion judder and video dropouts of several seconds) or the OLED dimming issue.

I have done the update... and after the update my KD55XE9005 doesn't start anyomore.
I receive 4 red light blinking. Before the update it was all OK

There has been another report about that on German forums, see here (also XE90). Guess you will need a repair service.
Sony probably screwed up again...

Yikes, was that via USB update? I guess I will hold off on this update for now. It seems pretty lack luster for the 2017 models anyway.

By the way. This update broke something with colorspace wiht HDR content. It is funny since it got fixed on nvidia shield with Oreo update and it got fixed on Philips TV with April update. but it was always ok on Sony and now got broken on sony TV with April update
playing HDR contect does semething weird with colorspace menus (colors) in media players becoming (in my case) darker. It was not a problem before on SONY tv but a problem everywhere else. now it is not a problem everywhereelse but a problem on my SONY.
That's even funny really.
PS: or maybe it was always a problem on sony tv. i am already confused with everybody having issues in different areas and nobody seems to know how to fix them, )))
