My Sony Bravia TV updated yesterday and is no longer compatible with TV streaming apps - I get this message when I try to open BBC iplayer
your device isn't compatible with this version
I get the same message for ITVX and all the other TV apps
Might be helpful if you tell us which Sony TV you have.
You should be able to get the full model number from the Settings> Help & feedback> Help menu.
Also include the version of software your TV updated to.
Did the TV restart after it installed the software.
Have you restarted the TV since the update.
Have you performed a power cycle, that is power the TV down, unplugging it from the mains.
Waiting two minutes and then plugging in and power up.
Have you tried restarting your router.
If a software update is not compatible with TV streaming apps on your Sony device, there are a few steps you can take to resolve the issue:
Bravia KD 65A1/55A1. The software update was yesterday and the TV restarted. Have unplugged TV and restarted. All the TV apps have gone and the google play store says the software is not compatible. Haven't restarted router
Hi, the apps have all disappeared from the tv and the store says they are incompatible and will not let me re install
Have checked and this is the latest update
The last sony update for your model of television was released in September 2023, so it is unusual that you’re writing that your TV updated only a few days go.
Please follow the link here,
Can you confirm the software your TV is running using the Settings path I mentioned in my first post.
It should be v6.7220
Do you know if it was indeed a Sony TV software update or some other update,
perhaps a Google/ Android update.
I take it your TV is still logged in to your Google account.
Can you open the Google Play Store on your TV.
Can you now click up to the top of the screen and click right to your Google ID avatar.
Click on Manage apps and games, click right and down to highlight Updates. Press OK.
Are there any updates for the apps you use on your TV. If so install them.
Has this made any difference.
I doubt very much that your TV would install software that would then render all apps unusable.
If this were possible then there would be a large amount of very angry Sony TV users, I have a TV older than yours and the apps still work.
It is interesting you mentioned on the day that it happened the front LED was flashing as you turned the TV on.
What colour was the LED, a flashing LED is an indication that there is something wrong with one of the
internal components of the TV.
When the TV is updating any apps or any Google / Android services the LED does not flash.
The LED will flash when installing Sony software and the screen will tell you it is doing so and there will be a progress bar.
Is your TV still under warranty, if so you could arrange to have an engineer to come out and assess the problem.
If it is not under warranty but the rest of the TV is functioning normally and you want to keep it
then you may be better off buying a third party device which can provide the services you want.
