I heard that Sony are planning to release an update to sort this out. In the meantime, you can try the following steps reported to solve the issue by some users:
- Press the ‘Home’ button on the remote
- Navigate to ‘Settings’ on top of the page
- Navigate to ‘Network & Internet’
- Navigate to ‘Home network’
- Navigate to ‘IP control’
- Make sure that the 'Simple IP control' setting is set to 'ON'
- Press the ‘Home’ button on the remote
- Navigate to ‘Settings’ on top of the page
- Navigate to ‘Watching TV’
- Navigate to ‘External inputs’
- Navigate to ‘Advanced settings’
- Navigate to ‘RS232C control’
- Make sure that the setting is set to ‘OFF’

Win_88, I already gave that information earlier in the thread.
I see that there is a new software version offered to me today, V6.0414. I also note that when looking through the list of previous software, V6.0384 which caused all the problems, is just not listed. Looks like Sony withdrew it and are not owning up to its existence.

Hi @vendee
I can see it still listed on the support page. There's even an official announcement about it being suspended:
Anyways, let's see how it goes after updating to V6.0414

Yeah, I didn't check the Sony website. It was when doing the software update on the TV that it gave the option of looking at previous versions and it was missing on that list. As for fixing the issues, I think my sound drop outs are less frequent but they are still happening. I still have a major issue with a horizontal flicker but I'm sure that is hardware related and as the TV is only a few weeks old, I will be getting that addressed under warranty but unfortunately Sony keep trying to trying to fob me off with settings changes and software updates, rather than getting an engineer out. My next port of call will be the UK small claims court.
