Hi gelay, welcome to the community!
If you put the phone's camera into Manual mode you can change the brightness (and white balance) by tapping on the icon at the top that looks like three white lines with a blue square on each line. Perhaps try that out and see if you like it, if you still find the camera quality is not how you would like it then you can clear the data for the camera (Settings > Apps > All > scroll down to Camera > tap Camera > tap Clear data) and if that doesn't work still - try running a software repair with PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.

thank you for the quick response! really appreciate it! i tried the clearing of data, still doesnt work for me. i still have issues with the front camera, i dont have any problem with the back camera, it is performing well. my worries are all in the fornt camera. please find a way to fix this.
No problem gelay. Sorry to hear that clearing the data didn't help, try running a software repair to see if that resolves the issue.
To do this, you will need to download PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.
Backing up your handset using PC (the repair will delete all user data)
1. Go to Support to install PC Companion on a Windows computer.
2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.
3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
4. Click Start under Backup & Restore.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Backing up on Bridge for Mac
1. Under Manage Media there should be an option that says back up your Xperia device, click here and the rest of the instructions will be on-screen.
Running the software repair on PC Companion
1. Open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps
Running the software repair on a Mac
1. Click Xperia at the top of the screen
2. Click Repair my Xperia Device
3. Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions
I do hope this helps, gelay
For me, pcc, repair, factory reset, take to service centre etc is wasting time.
Except the stardard pcc procedure, I am giving my suggestion for the front camera of lollipop:
1. Camera -> Manual -> Turn on HDR (better than auto)
2. Use another app: Cameringo lite (Good for all resolutions, but no real flash light)
HD camera Pro (Not free app, only work for 4:3, not support hardware button)
camera fv-5, a better camera (work for 4:3)
3. Downgrade to Kitkat: You may still face the flash light problem of backcam
4. wait for bug fix if exist
what is the firmware version of your kitkat?
