Hello I have a brand new Xperia C4 and installed using WIFI, as requested by the initialization and 1st configuration steps process to Android 6.0 with July 2016 update (a thousand MegaBytes size more or less) and around 20-30 minutes upgrade.
After that the System update menu showed several Sony APPs updates for installation which I did it succesfully.
This ended up in a final small system update called Memory APP Update v1.1.A.0.1 (1.3MB in size) that fails to install .
I have contacted Sony Local online Chat support in my country and after a couple of suggestions I was redirected here to find a solution.
Their suggestion was to go to APPLICATIONS and find the system app called "Update Service" and delete Data and or Cache but unfortunatelly this did not work since both buttons are not active and nor DATa nor CACHE seems to be eraseable.
Second suggestion is to load Sony Companion on a PC and try to install this update using the PC and USB connection to my mobile. I have not been able to test this because I am really concerned about this issue possibly hiding a more complex problem that could end up in more severe problems.
I have seen in the forums and several blogs that this maintenance update 1.1.A.0.1 seems to be causing battery heating and quick exhaustion of battery charges or life....
The third and final suggestion of the support team at the online chat was to "do nothing, and just wait for next maintenance update or operating system upgrade that will maybe get rid of this small 1.1.A.0.1 update" with the argument that they do not have any info of this update or of any general related or pervasive problem against this update so they can do nothing for me except redirecting me to this forum which -they say- is monitoried by Sony developpers.
I asked them to open a new defect or ticket related to this problem but they refused and insisted that the only way I could go is here to ask here for a solution .
Is that true? I am able to provide more info on the problem but would like to know a bit more about the real cause and nature of the problem, or where I could go and check for the installation log of the update that fails because only a generic error and message appears : " Update failed, could not be installed" (this has been translated from spanish (which is the language I have).
Waiting for any info or pointer related to this , and for an official answer on to what to do or not to do in order to get rid of the problem of the problem or work-around it.
regards and thanks in advance.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Well it took me over 2 hours but I solved it.
The thing is, I believe, a mismatch between the update version of the "Memory" app and the version already installed. So I searched for it in the Applications list (it's called like that, "Memory") and proceeded to uninstall updates (in the menu from the right-up corner). When successful, I tried the update again from the update center and voilá!
Hope it's the same solution to the rest of you.
Cheers
You should follow their advice and use XC

I have exactly the same problem with my xperia Z2, and I also use it in spanish
@imontesino, hi, can you try again to install the update in other time, based on my experience sometimes the updates won't get through during peak hours and or would be installed only as long as other updates are installed like system apps (what new)
I don't know if it is possible but can you install the update while you are on safe mode?
Hi Nando,
what I did is to install the sony system update proposed which brings it to Android v 6.0 . Now the Xperia C4,
I have been able to reproduce the exact same problem with a different Xperia C4 also brand new.
Please Sony developpers and technicians out there that may be following this forum, what can I do, the support specialists at the online chat did not bring me a solution and keep pointing me at posting my problem here in this forum.
Any other help from any one?
thanks in advance
Thank you uliwooly!
Can you please elaborate a little more and be more precise? Which one advice?
I did use Xperia Companion and could install the latest system update which brings the system to android 6.0 (from 5.1) but after that Xperia Companion says that the device is up to date but in the phone itself a new update is shown available for the system APP called Momory APP UPDATE v 1.1.A.0.1 (1.3MB size) and is imposible to install. (keeps failing at every and all attempt not giving any clue in the error message as to why this is failing.
The problem is reproducible and I have it now in a second Xperia C4.
I have the exact same issue in my Z3 D6603. Erasing cache and data didn't resolve the problem. I've resisted until now to upgrade to Marshmallow to avoid this kind of things, I wonder if any of you found a solution yet, as the original post is 4 months old...
Thanks
