DSC-HX30V WiFi Smartphone

I have a HTC Sensation XL Android phone. I've installed Playmemories Mobile Version 2.2.0 on it. When I try to send a photo to my phone the camera displays "Wi-Fi Standby . . ." followed by "Awaiting connection to the smartphone" together with the SSID, Password and Device Name.

Then I fire up Playmemories Mobile on my phone. It recognises the camera but immediately, the camera displays "Connection to target device impossible".

Despite that, the image DOES get uploaded to my phone. If I then select 'Copy' on the phone, it displays 'Copying . . . 1/1' and a blue fuel gauge fills up and it just sits there. You have to press 'Cancel' to get out.

Despite that, the picture is uploaded on my phone. It took a while to find it but it was in /mnt/sdcard/PlayMemories Mobile. There was no option to change the destination folder of the upload.

If I choose 'Upload' and 'Facebook' it says 'Copying for upload . . .' but then just hangs again. I haven't found where that is going.

So . . . it sort of works but it feels really clunky and a bit buggy. I was on holiday last weekend and I couldn't get it to work at all. Today, I've had a bit more time to sit down and work through it. But these days, you'd expect to find this sort of functionality much more intuitive with a default setting and optional configuration. This isn't the sort of quality you'd expect from Sony.

It's really frustrating. One of the reasons I bought the camera was for the Wi-Fi capability and it's a fantastic camera - let down by crappy, buggy software.

Has anyone else had trouble with this software? Is there an imminent update for Playmemories mobile?

Hi, welcome to the Sony Forums

Connection problems like this are usually a WiFi configuration issue. However it could be that there are some teething problems wit hte mobile app. I would imagine an update will be announced at some point soon but you'll probably hear about it first via your phone's software update.

Cheers
