downloading a movie straight to my external sd card

Can anyone explain how do i go about downloading a movie direct to my external sd card thus bypassing the internal storage. I have a Sony Xperia E3 and as we all know space is very limited on internal storage

You cannot,that is how apps work. Only if an app allows you to do that.

If it's your own films then you can transfer them to your SD card or copy them from your Pc direct to SD however if they are films from say the Movies app then I wouldn't advise transferring as they may cease to work due to DRM protection and as the DRM keys are stored on internal memory then transferring these will then not have a DRM key to allow them to play

You can not download a movie to sd card directly yet just wait for few updates.

When can we expect these updates because personally I am thinking about buying a new phone that has ample internal storage

Your E3 is not a flagship phone so can't say when will you receive these updatesyou have to wait no one can say about these updates .
