I bought a non-working Sony SCD-XA777ES SACD player with the probem being that the tray will not open. Clicking the "Open" causes the lens to move slightly but no other movement is noticable. I can open the tray manually by twisting the release on the bottom of the unit and insert a disk that way, how ever it will not recognize it or play it.
Could this be an issue with bad laser uint. I would buy a replacement laser, but woud rather not spend the money if that is definetly not it. On the other hand, the laser seems to be common issue with these players.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi skakee,
Welcome to the community.
I'll see if I can track down an answer. Maybe someone else in the community has an idea in the meantime.
Thanks,
Pascale
Hi skakee,
I'd say the best thing to do would be to contact you nearest service centre which can be found using this link: https://locator.sony/en_GB/servicecenters
The model is a bit on the older side so there's a chance it's not possible to repair it at this point in time.
