Severe battery drain on latest firmware

Hi

I am on the. 205 firmware (UK Customised) and experience battery drain when location services are on, I loose ~30% overnight. I often use apps like maps and city mapper so need location services on but this battery drain makes the phone a misery to use, it only lasts a day (just about).

Sony, please can you fix this.

Just to add I have he latest version of all Google apps.

Seems to be fine when I turn off background data restriction (which I initially had on). I hope Sony can fix this in future updates/4.4 update (if it comes).

I don't think its solved as I have this problem too and don't have background data restricted. Did you restart the phone at same time you noticed improvement? 

Look at this screenshot. After over 2.5 days standby I had 45% battery left, then when I checked a few hours later it was dead . There was a sharp change in drain for no reason at all. Nothing strange in wakelock detector showing up and absolutely no changes made to the phone (it was not used at all, just left standby) I think it may have been started by the recent google play services update though.

Here's a screenshot from the start of this same charge, went from 88% to 85% in 6 hours which is 0.5% per hour drain. Usage by different apps is very similar.

And other times my standby can barely get 1 day...again no difference in phone settings and just left standby all the time

My suspicion  is its linked to Play Store as I can get good standby time by restarting the phone and never using it. It's also fine when I use chrome, or play some games then let it back standby. But the moment Play Store is used,  idle drain increases 4x the amount and stays like that until a restart . Something weird to note is the difference in icons used by android system and play services, .which also has different names sometimes, either google services or google play services.

I somehwat agree with Spixel

I think the battery drain is because of play store and play services and may be something else also.

At times when i close these services , the battery is minimal, but other times is remains usual.

It could be google play services, the Xperia Z has had the same problem. But for me I am sure it is location services and background data because now it is fine (location on, data rest. off). But when I had the issue in the battery usage section google play usage was little (I don't use play store that often), most was down to the android system but I can't pin point specifically where in the system based on the battery history.
