Muffin1947 is not alone. I have had the same problem since Monday 19 December 2016. My tv is a KDL-22EX320 purchased in February 2012. On Sunday 18 we started watching a programme and the i-Player was ok. When we went back on Monday to watch the rest the i-Player wouldn't work with exactly the symptoms described. It is still not working today 21 December 2016. Every action produces the error message "Internet Download failed etc.."
Hello.
you have left a message that you are aware of this problem and it was solved on the 12th December.
Today 16th December, I am still getting the same message and have the same problem on my Sony KDL 22EX320 television which is making BBC IPlayer unusable.
what can you or I do to resolve this.
regards
chillybons
Hi Chillybons,
It's working for my tv still. I did turn it off and on again and did as Quinnicus advised by updating the internet content etc. If yours still doesn't work, you could raise a fresh enquiry - maybe Quinnicus could work the magic for you too by contacting the powers that be with your new enquiry (as I marked this one as solved).
Kind regards
Thanks for your reply, I haven't seen Quinnicus' reply.
How did he recommend updating the Internet content?
Do you know how I raise a new problem request?
Chillybons
Hi,
I am new to this too so I searched the Sony site for ages before finally raising a new message in the community forum. I stumbled upon it but I think it is via this link:
https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/ab_en_3
This is what I was advised to do if you scroll to the start of this subject:
A) Two things as general advice:
If that still fails, it would be best to report this issue to the BBC themselves - as Sony does not have much control over the running of the iPlayer app.
https://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/tv/forms
----
According to the BBC:
http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/tv/connected_tvs_dec2016
There is a general message about iPlayer not loading - however it is only mentioning LG (fixed) and Samsung (Under investigation).

B) You could also click on this link to see if these News and Alerts apply to your device:

C) Ask the community for help under community, general chat, new message or try this link

The person (Quinnicus) who responded and advised me also raised the issue with their contacts.
Hopefully Quinnicus will see your question and help you in the same way.
Kind regards
Hi Guys
Sorry, Ive just seen this thread Just to let you know, if you use the @ symbol infront of someones name, it flags your reply for their attention
For @Chillybons - Your TV model KDL-22EX320 is a 2011 model. The issue was fixed via a workaround by BBC for 2013 TV models (until a full fix is released on their end) - I was not aware of other models until now. As it is the weekend, my contacts within Sony will not respond until Monday. Can I please confirm that you are getting the exact same error message?
The "Refresh Internet Content" is a way to force an update (if any) for the Smart Apps.
Cheers
Hi @Chillybons
Current Status of your iPlayer issue:
Sony is now aware of a potential issue with iPlayer and awaiting feedback from them
Cheers
Hi @sicromb and @Chillybons
I have moved your posts into a dedicated thread, as your issue is different to ones of the threads that you posted in.
Cheers
Hi All
Regarding this on-going issue. At current the BBC still have this message:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/latest-news/sony-memory-limit
It is unusual for this issue to be unresolved for so long. However according to @Chillybons : HERE, they have apparently been told by Sony that the iPlayer on 2011 TVs may be discontinued.
BBC iPlayer was discontinued for many manufacturers and models in Autumn of 2016, see HERE, but there is still no mention officially by Sony or the BBC that 2011 models would go the same way.
I will try and see if I can get concrete information from Sony on Monday
Cheers
Thanks!
I just left a disgruntled message on the relevant iplayer page.
My TV doesn't support 4OD, ITV hub etc so I think I might get a Firestick.
