I have just purchased LED backlights for my 40" Sony Bravia TV.
When plugged into either USB port the lights flash continually. This does not happen when plugged into other TV`s or a USB wall charger.
Is this something I can change?

The LEDs work OK in every other TV and USB charger I have but not in the Sony.
I don't doubt that, yet to me that sounds like the TV can barely supply the lowest level of power needed for the LEDs to function, so they alternate from being on to being off.
Maybe a "Y-cable" which draws power from both USB-ports and merges into one cable can fix this.

What is the model number of you TV? If it has a USB port marked as HDD then this is probably the best as it will have the highest rated power connection.
Also what is the power rating required for you LED backlights?
Model no. KDL-40WE663. 12 months old still under 5 year warranty.
It has 2 USB ports but both result in the same flashing lights.
This does not happen in my other TV or when I plug the lights into a USB charger.
I wonder whether this is a fault or whether I can change something.
Hi hollywood1939,
How many times does the LED flash? Does it flash in red?
Cheers,

Hello @The_Black_Rose,
the post is about an aftermarket LED-backlight-strip, which @hollywood1939 plugged into the USB-port of the TV, not the status LED of the TV itself.
Hello @hollywood1939,
do you own a USB-power-meter? Maybe the TVs power output is at the lower end of the required capacity.

Thanks for the interest.
The LEDs flash regularly about every 4 seconds. I only have white LEDs.
Thanks for the interest.
Sorry, I do not own a USB power meter.
The LEDs work OK in every other TV and USB charger I have but not in the Sony.

The maximum power rating supplied from your TV’s USB ports is 2.5 Watts. I repeat what is the power rating of your LED backlights? Perhaps the exact model of your LED backlights may help.
Thanks for your interest.
The LED backlight is 100cm long with 60 white LEDs.
As far as I can tell from the unclear instructions the lights
require 5v@1amp which means from your reply that the TV
cannot supply the necessary power.
Is this peculiar to Sony as the lights work well on other TVs. (Samsung and Logik).
