I have tried and tried to perform the update for my TV, i have followed the instructions from Sony's website i believe to the letter and still it wont do it? I have left the tv on standby every night for about 4 nights, and still no 'over the air' automatic update via their dongle! I have downloaded the latest firmware to a correctly (as per Sony's recommendations) formated USB, and followed their guide, NO BLOODY JOY!! I am on an older firmware version for my TV and i need to perform the update so that i can get iPlayer and, i am told, other updates to work properly on the TV. I just don't know where i am going wrong?! Also, whilst i'm here, does anybody know how to activate the enhanced features on this TV? I again, cannot find out how to do this, so please, if it has to be a step by step idiots guide, i'll take it!! HELP ME, I'M GOING TO LOSE IT SHORTLY!!! Cheers in advance.
Have you tried formating the USB stick first, that can sometimes be the problem.
I'm not sure there is anything 'enhanced' about the 'enhanced' services - just offering RS232 control for some specialist remotes.
Thanks
Hi, yes I have formatted the usb, I really have tried as much as I can think of? I'm starting to get properly cheesed off now!
What version are you presently on?
What happens when you put the stick into the machine?
Are you leaving the file structure intact on the USB?
How is the USB drive formatted?
Thanks
Current Version is PKG4.010EUL-0103 WHEN I PUT THE USB STICK INTO THE TV IT SAYS:- USB DETECTED. MAKE SURE USB IS INACTIVE BEFORE DISCONNECTING. I HAVE EXTRACTED THE UNZIPPED FIRMWARE TO THE USB AND SAVED THERE. I DON'T REMEMBER THE EXACT TERM FOR THE USB FORMAT BUT IT ENDS IN 32? HOPE THAT IS HELPFUL? THANKS Andrew.
Further to my previus reply, the format of the USB is FAT32? I just checked again and apparently the latest software version for my TV should be :- PKG4.089EUL-0108 Hope all of this information will enable you to help me Catmambo? Cheers, Andrew.
You need to copy the folder with the file in it to the root of the USB drive, not just the file. Are you simply extracting the file?
thanks
Perhaps I'm only extracting the file? How do I copy it to 'the route' of the usb? It's a Sandisk if that helps?
Best follow the instructions carefully here
part 3 and 4 reference it - basically once you unzip the file, it creates a folder and a file. You need to copy the entire folder (called sony_dtv0FA00A00A0A0_00020100) containing the file to the USB drive e.g. d:\sony_dtv0FA00A00A0A0_00020100
Thanks
Thankyou Catmambo, I will give it a go, but I am pretty sure that I have already been following those instructions carefully. I will re-read it all though and let you know if that's worked or not. Cheers, Andrew.
