Sony KDL-47W805A :I have a Sony kdl-47w805a which shows the following message when I try to open iPlayer
"tv internet download failed because content size exceed system memory limit."
Can I clear or increase the memory or can I not get iPlayer anymore ?
What does it actually mean ?
My tv is only 3 years old.
Thanks

Hi there,
I just want to point out that this may be an admittedly inconvenient situation, but I don't think the blame falls entirely on Sony here. The maintenance of a service requires the developer (BBC) allocating resources for that version of the app to make sure it works with the servers and performs as expected on the platform in question. This may be relatively simple or a not simple at all depending on what direction the things go over the years.
For example, since 2013 (when the KDL-47W805A ) was released, Android TVs and other platforms with more capable hardware have gained so much popularity which enables developers to integrate more features into their apps. Having to keep a 7 year old platform in the list of devices that meet the requirements becomes less essential.
That's just my opinion btw.

BBC I player has given up, is it anything to do with the fact that Sky have given me a QBox, or have BBC just lost interest?
I found this for you: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs/kdl-47w805a/articles/00178..., it seems like BBC has stopped supporting older models.
Although my W829 doesn't show up on this list I'm assuming it is now no longer supported.
What have I learned from this? Pre-Android smart devices have rapidly gone dumb as there was no uniform operating system for developer to work with. A flat screen TV or Blu-ray player will last 15 years but the software will age far quicker and be useless in half that time
Moral is 'smart' tech really isn't and manufacturers should go back to making decent screens and let the streamers develop smart, cheap, replaceable dongles.
My 7 year old TV still has amazing pictures but sound is through a cinema amp, input through a Freesat box and streaming through a firestick- it's no better than a PC monitor with HDMI ports
You can still use your screen as a monitor and buy a newer smart box (firestick google cast apple TV Roku TV) for few pounds.the same route will be for any electronic device including pc, phone and android TV or whatever is they use
