I have had my TV for just over 2 years.  Recently purchased Sony Bluetooth Headphones MDR-XB650BT - is there anyway to connect the 2 as that was my main reason for pucchaing the headphones - I assumed that Sony Headphones would work with a Sony TV

Unfortunately you cannot connect bluetooth headphones to any Sony TV.  However you can purchase a bluetooth transmitter such as :
