Sony kdl-55hx853 terrible picture

Hello. Been off to the Sony centre to see this yesterday and John Lewis today. Put the roof chase scene from quantum through it and never seen so much smear and blocking. Even got the motion resolution settings to off and terrible picture. What is happening here. My five year old 400 quid plasma delivers a more consistent picture. This is a five star product. Has tech moved backwards in the last five years. Please help

Same problem here, I see all 2012 TV models worse than previous models.

Hi,

no problems with my 55HX853 sometimes standard def leaves a little to be desired but mostly thats down to the broadcast and as for Blu Ray perfect picture other than light round the edges sometimes but thats because i've not set it up right yet.

on a serious note video tape getting a bit long in the tooth now with tape getting old and video machines getting tired, i certainly would not expect much from those on a large screen tv anyway.

as for quantum, i watched a rip of that on my set and had no problems with smearing or blocking of the picture and that again is down to how JL has theirs set up.

all in all this is a cracking tv, still does not have the finesse of my last 923 but this one gained a lot more awards this time.

Comparing Plasma vs LCD is already non sense... no matter how good the HX855 will never top plasma quality picture. But compare to other LCD... HX855 was rewarded the best so if you don't like it...you won't be able to buy anything else this year...
