Unable to set reminders or access timer list.

I have a small  Sony Bravia TV which has lost the ability to set programme reminders and consequently has no timer list available. When I try to set a reminder I am shown the message "This event data is invalid". The TV was purchased in 2007 so is this an example of built-in obsolescence or is it a software problem? Any advice would be welcome.

This issue is ongoing since Jan 1 on some older Bravia TVs. Sony have announced they are aware of it and are working on a fix.
