Boot issue X Compact

Hi,

I'm having a big problem with my X Compact, bought new in 2017. It turned black suddenly two days ago and I've tried every possible solution proposed on the "i-cannot-power-on-my-device" Support page. I even tried to repair with Xperia Companion, but hasn't worked.

If I connect the phone to the charger and push the power button, it happens the following, on a loop:

1) red LED appears

2) Sony logo appears

3) red light turns off

4) Xperia logo appears

5) the phone turns off suddenly

6) after 1-2 seconds, red LED appears again

7) red light turns off for about 5 seconds

😎 back to point 1)

What is happening?

Hi @Dave48, I am sorry to hear about this.

From your description it sounds like your phone is stuck in a so called Bootloop. In addition to what is mentioned in the article that you linked I would suggest that you try removing the SIM card, and then try restarting the phone. If the phone restarts successfully after you remove the SIM card it might be the SIM card that needs to be replaced.  Secondly you could also try to remove the SD Card if you have one. If the phone restarts successfully after you remove the SD card, your SD card may be damaged and in need of replacement.

If this does not manage to get you past the booting screen of the phone, I recommend that you get in contact with your local support team in order to have the phone sent in to an authorized service center. If you have any questions regarding the service, such as routines, warranty and consumer laws, these type of questions are best answered by your local support team as well, as they vary between markets.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi Martin,

thank you for your support. I've tried without the cards already and it does change nothing.

I'll search my local support team.

No worries, @Dave48.

Yes if the phone behaves the same way without the SD cards and a software repair do not manage to get you past the boot screen, I am afraid that the only thing left to do is to have your phone sent to an authorized service center for examination and repair.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this might cause. If there is any further questions, do not hesitate to return to us! Slightly_smiling_Face
