People can't hear me when I make or receive calls

When I make or receive a call on my new Xperia x compact people complain that they can't hear me. I have taken it back to where it was purchased, carphone warehouse, 3 times now but whenever they test it they say it works. They have ran a diagnostics test and sent it back to Sony who can't find a problem. They said it could be the sim so I took it to my carrier Vodafone who tested the sim and it worked fine. Looking at this forum this seems a fairly common problem. Have reset it etc. Any thoughts Mr Sony?

Hi @Merse16, welcome to the community.

I am sorry to hear about the experience you are having. Slightly_frowning_Face

In your testing, have you tried another SIM in the phone? Also, does it make a difference if you put them on speakerphone?

Hi, I'm having the same problem, what do you recommend I do?

Hello, I am new in the forum and I am here because I have the same problem with my new Xperia Z3 + . I bought it this month by ebay, but when I received it and check the device status, I warned that People can't hear me when I make or receive calls but I do and I also hear my voice on the handset. I checked the status of the microphone and it works correctly. So try to call using the handsfree and with this the call is successful.

I suffer the same problem. Sometimes, not always, when I start a phone call the other people tells me that they can not hear me while I am hearing them right. Then I redial and the comunication works fine. It is really strange.

Exactly the same problem. Cannot talk thru microphone in regular fashion, because makes me not audible. Talking on speakerphone makes me audible for my caller, but I can almost not hear them! On headset I can speak to callers.

Have reset factory settings, tried starting in Safe mode, repairfunction of Xperia Companion did also nothing. Strange, is common enough problem since 2012.

If I have to give phone for repair it will cost me 50 euros for examination only! (regardless of fixng phone)  I just bought phone three months ago, and am not amused by these extra costs!

Tried the sim in another phone in the Vodafone shop and worked fine. Seems it is definitely a hardware issue. What do Sony support suggest now as this is a new phone and I have reported the problem without resolution more than 5 times.

Same problem here. The microphone work allright when tested with the diagnostic app, but during calls it seems to be set at minimum level or mute (sometimes people can hear something, most of the time they can't, but it's never loud enough to be understandable).

I strongly suspect the last system update, as I think the problem began after I installed it.
