missing "USB connection mode" menu

Xperia X Compact model F5321 with Android 7.1.1. When USB cable is connected device is charging but there is no "USB connection mode" menu in status bar. Seems like it doesn't recognize USB connections. Also, USB tethering is grayed out.  Also I cannot connect my PC, it doesn't recognize USB device, and also adb doesnt recognize my phone. 

I use original Sony USB-C cable, I tried different USB-C cables as well, on different USB ports of different computers. Same result. I rebooted my phone, removed SIm and SD-card---still doesn't recognize USB.

I am aware of the thread below but solution proposed in this thread is not related to my problem and doesn't help

Just a few thoughts about tracing the problem.

What about USB Connectivity in setting and switch on Install software.

Just to see if signals exist between your device and a computer.

The other thing you can try to do is in Developer Options: Select USB Configuration

Last thing is clean the USB connector of your device, or maybe you should start with this.

I tried to switch on the "install software" in "USB connectivity" but PC doesn't see it.

Also triesd to change "USB Configuration" in developer options, didn't help.

PC doesn't see it on USB device level.

I am not sure if I can clean the connector without demaging it. It is internal and very tiny.

Same here I cannot use otg after updating to oreo. I have only just tried it because my other otg stick broke, so got the new 1 today and boom.. Absolutely flip all...

Any solutions??

I've Solved my issue, I bought a plus one micro USB to type c adapter 🙂

One thing about APPLE: you always get feedback and actual solutions to problems.

SONY, for Pete's sake:

Resetting the device DOES NOT WORK

Cleaning the port DOES NOT WORK

Developer options DOES NOT WORK

Trying another cable DOES NOT WORK

Trying another PC DOES NOT WORK

The USB settings are GREYED OUT - and stuck on DO NOT CHARGE and DO NOT TRANSFER DATA

These forums are USELESS.

I have the same problem. I have tried all these solutions. It is the phone that won't recognize it is connected to a computer--I've tried many computers and many cables. Any other ideas? or would Sony please push a bug fix?

One can try a lot but in the end a software repair with Xperia companion turns out to be the best solution.

Xperia Companion won't work. Phone just blinks red and green. Won't recognize the Companion trying to reach it.

Did anyone find out a fix for this as i have the same problem, won't connect to pc(will accept charge from pc) and when headphones are plugged in audio is only on the right ear on xperia XZ2, tried different pc's, different headphones and different cables.
