New Xperia X Battery issues?

Hi All,

I just got my new Xperia X phone, and after using it for a bit was rather shocked at the battery drain. When I got my phone, there were a lot of updates (about 3.5 hours of them), and by the end my battery had gone from 65% (out of the box charge) to about 24%. I assumed this was normal, as the phone was processing a lot of data, doing restarts, updating, downloading apps, etc.

After the updates I decided to do a full charge, and only using wi-fi (waiting for microsim card in mail so don't have data connection yet). Using the phone with only wifi, I was shocked at how little battery life I got from it.In fact, I was so surprised at how quickly the battey got drained, that I decided to do some testing.

First, I charged the phone to 100%, disconnected it soon after reaching 100%, and began testing. Please keep in mind that these tests are with the phone being 100% on standby the entire time (except for when I check the battery % twice a day).

Day 1: 10:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. 3% drain on standby all day (no Facebook, Messanger, or other apps connected and wi-fi off).

Day 2: Wi-fi on 9:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m. 3% battery drain on standby all day.

Day 3: Wi-fi on, Facebook connected 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. 5% drain.

Day 4: Wi-fi on, Facebook on, Messanger on, 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. 4% drain.

Day 5 Wi-fi on, facebook on, messanger on, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. 4% drain.

These were my testing days. Again, the phone was left on standby and was not used at all (no recharges between each test, just mesured drain based on % drop).

So what do these tests tell me? Stand by battery life seems fantastic! Then why  does my battery drop 3% after watching a 6 min youtube video at 50% screen brightness?

Why does my battery drop 3% after using the maps application for about 7 minutes?

This seems like a widely disproportionate battery drain.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is my phone defective, or is the battery just crappy when the phone is in use, and really good when it is on standby?

Edit: Just did another test, loosing roughly 14% of total battery life for every 60 min of youtube video watching with speakers on, volume max, and brightness at about 50%.

Again, can anyone verify if this is normal battery use for the phone?

I am also facing the same issue on my device. I think this is not the application fault rather it is the device fault. Any way to solve this issue?

The Xperia X isn't a device that stands out for low battery consumption.

However you can help the machine.

Follow @questers advice. Push vol-up and power simultanuously for a long time. It will vibrate several times.

After the restart goto settings.

In the search section type: consuming apps.

Restrict those from working in the background.

In Network & internet go WiFi, advanced, WiFi preferences.

Switch off Open network notification, Turn off WiFi scanning (Turn on WiFi automatically)

One more:

Switch off sound for all notifications.

You'll have led and notifications on lock screen left.

It will prevent you to pick up the phone every time.

It will give you more time for yourself and save some battery too.
