Hi, the storage is almost full on my Xperia X Compact and I need to transfer files to a computer. When I connect the phone to my computer the phone charges (so there is connectivity) but Windows does not detect the phone or the Micro SD card like it used to.
I'm using the original OEM USB cable (and have also tried a different android USB cable with a USB Type C Connector added)
Have tried multiple USB ports.
Have tried on pc with Windows 10, and two pc's with Windows 7.
In Settings under Device Connection > USB Connectivity I have it "install software for managing content on your Xperia from a computer" turned on. (but no software installs)
I don't see the phone detected in Device Manager
I tried most of the steps in this help article: https://support.sonymobile.com/gb/xperiaxcompact/faq/the-phone-doesnt-appear-on-the-computer-when-it...
(but I couldn't figure out how to "clear the data in the Media Storage system app on your device"
What else can I do? Any other settings on the phone to verify?
Thanks!
Hi, I am having the same issue. My Xperia X F5121 is charging after connecting to a computer, but I cannot transfer files. I was able to do it just a week ago, before the last system update 34.4.A.2.85.
My storage is almost full, any help and ideas will be much appreciated!
And..... me too, same problem since the Oreo update and also a very very slow charging even without the intelligent charging mode.....
So many people having the same problem at the same time.... seems to be a bug somewhere !!!
I have exactly the same problem. Can't transfer files (no popup on the phone after recent updates) and phone also seems to charge slower than usual. Sony please do help.
Seriously Sony, Im still experiencing this very frustrating problem as well and was committed to the Xperia phones prior to this issue (have had two Xperias for over 3 years) Considering Sony's complete disregard for customer support and such a frustrating problem I plan to steer clear of Sony phones going forward.
Today I noticed that transfer works using USB 2.0 connection.
I am experiencing it too, and Sony Support did not help. I did everything said in this forum and by the tech, but the phone will not recognize a computer. Please Sony, push an update to fix this.
My usb c cable often has the same problem.
I found out that unplugging the connector, turning it 180 degrees and plugging it in solved the problem (I have a non Sony usb cable)
That is tantalizingly easy but unfortunately doesn't work for me.
I talked to Sony on the phone today. They said the only option left is I can pay $50-$150 and ship them my phone for repair.
I would be without the phone for 4 weeks.
Sad to say I'm so phone dependent--aren't all of us on this forum?--that I can't be without my smart phone for 4 weeks. I need it for work. I'll try to find one to borrow and put my sim card in but still a pain to get work software installed, etc.
Not impressed with Sony.
Anyone managed to find a solution to this problem??? Experiencing the same issue with my XZ.... There is no chance I am sending my phone to repair as the whole point is to get the photos and videos off it.... No way am I loosing all the content and I'm out of space
