First try to install gboard.

Pick it up from APKMirror if it won't install from Google play.

Or pick another keyboard.

You can kind of uninstall SwiftKey by using adb.

Search XDA to find out how.

First be sure to have installed a keyboard that senders your needs!

So all has been fine with my xperia xz premium until i picked it up today to reply to a message, the keyboard had changed itself to speak to text somewhow and when i tried to change it back to the default xperia keyboard the only one available is the swiftkey keyboard which i do not like at all, is there a way to get back the default keyboard? I have tried to download the apk sony keyboard but for some reason it wont download onto my phone.

Another dissatisfied user here.

My past 4 phones have been Sony phones (Z-series), as I like their designs best and they're super sturdy on top of that. (Which is convenient for someone like me, who drops things all the time! No broken screens ever so far!) They're a more expensive brand out there, but well worth it with how great they are inside and outside. I've had my XZ Premium for little under a year now and can only say I am very happy with the phone itself.

HOWEVER,

Swiftkey is the absolute most terrible keyboard I've ever used. Takes up half the screen despite disabling the language and prediction options, and having the key size changed to the smallest possible setting. ON AN XZ PREMIUM, which is a pretty darn big phone!

Its Swype option of it is terrible (not that I liked using it before anyway, but still) And to my horror, this terrible app can't be uninstalled, only disabled. (I know, you could do that in the developers option, probably, but I do not feel comfortable doing that) Google Play keeps popping it up telling me it needs to update.

I ended up installing the Google keyboard from Play. It suffices, but is nowhere near as accurate or fast as the Xperia keyboard.

Honestly, anything is better than Swiftkey by a long run, and I wish that Sony gave us the option to choose the old Xperia keyboard in stead. It still exists for Chinese characters (it came preinstalled on my phone) so why not for other languages as well?

I am absolutely disgusted that this phone is labelled as premium I feel robbed and cheated by Sony it is full of BLOATWARE and SPYWARE right out the box cannot uninstall the apps I do not want and do not use including swiftkey which keeps storing passwords even tho it says it doesnt unless they are sent in messages which I have never done the camera is pathetic and the corners are awful and sharp my lumia 950 was a much better phone i wish I had never broken it I can't wait to hit this with a hammer and I will never buy Sony products again

Hey @iHATExperiaXZpremium , cooled down?

It is like your relationship; the moment it's there you'll have to learn to live with it.

Time to catch up.

What can we do to make live better.

Maybe start by disabling the apps you don't like.

Those system apss cannot be uninstalled but some van be disabled.

Next step could be to go on adb expedition.

BTW

Check other brands of devices before you explode on bloatware.

Imho Sony is rather decent compared to some others.

I bought this because it is meant to be one of the best handsets Sony does I will not buy another Sony product ever my next phone will be Huawei because they actually have long shutter speeds and removable BLOATWARE it is nothing like a marriage I shouldn't have to get used to it I payed good money for a crappy device when I upgrade my TV I will be getting Panasonic or Samsung not another bravia just because this phone and the pathetic answers from customer service the more I read about this phone he more unhappy people I find only the Sony fan boys say its great try taking pictures in a cave with this so called amazing camera phone then get back to me this phone is outdated and Sony are doing nothing to fix it when all they have to do is a small software update. I will see how it lasts in 1.5m submergence test then when it fails I can claim a refund as it is rated as ip68 which I do not believe it capable of

@ferruhyazgan

You can disable it.

Did you install Google keyboard?

As of today, Swiftkey somehow got reactivated after being disabled since I first set up my phone. My problem is that the setting to disable it has been grayed out. Did Sony do something to my phone today? I use Jellybean keyboard from 5 years ago because it doesn't use the internet and I'm paranoid of keylogging. Do I need to *root* my phone now?

You are not paranoid. Swiftkey, but also Google Gboard are making sure their servers get everything you do with your phone. Their servers can then learn from you.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, but yeah 1st thing you should do now is get the Xperia keyboard of your old phone and migrate it to your new phone so you can disable Swiftkey.
