SD card issues

I have just changed to the Experia X Compact this week. Initially I put in an old 128gb SD. Card I had lying around but it kept saying it was corrupt and formatting didn't seem to fix it so I bought a brand new 256gb card which this phone should handle. When I turn on I get the corrupt SD Card notification and when I try to format it sits at 20% for a while before coming up with a java timeout error and closes. The SD card does not show in the memory section in settings.

Has anyone else had this problem?

@Tamstein,

I am sorry to hear about that. Slightly_frowning_Face

I recommend you use a Sony SD card of course as we can guarantee it, but they are pretty universal so any should work.

Just back up the content and reformat it. Most of the time it fixes the issue for good.

Hi @Tamstein,

Welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

Are you able to test the SD card in another device, and potentially format it there? If you format it from a PC, make sure you format it in FAT32.

Thanks for the advice. Pc got about 70% through formatting and then failed. After that nothing would access it so the SD card is going back.

Bright side though is the learning process trying to fix the 256gb card allowed me to rescue an old 128gb SD that I never managed to get working in my old z3 compact.

Should do nicely for now

And so the saga continues.....

I loaded some music on to the memory card and all seemed to be going smoothly until today. My phone is coming up with a warning saying that the memory card is corrupt and I need to format it.

Is there a specific type of card I should be buying or something? Just don't understand this tbh

Sorry for the slow response. I tried formatting the memory card again but still got the corrupt messages. I don't know what I am doing incorrectly when buying the larger capacity memory cards but I desided just to bite the bullet and buy the biggest capacity sony memory card I could afford.

Problem solved!

Much smaller capacity than I had hoped for but its still a huge step up from my old phone.

Thanks for your help.
