Win10 connectivity issue

Hey,

I just figure out that my phone (Xperia S) is not recognized by my pc (which has been runing on win10 for 4~5 month).

I am almost certain that it was recognized 3 month ago, but I tried to connect it today but nothing happended...

My phone doesn't show the notification saying that it is connected although it charges up. PC companion doesn't find any sony device connected. I tried uninstalling the driver through the Device Manager of windows, hoping that it would reintall itself correctly but it did't work. I downloaded the driver to install it manually but yet i had another error... win told me that a part of the INF file was wrong so it canceled the installation. Same thing happended when i ask win to download the driver for "MTP Device"...

On the Device Manager, my phone is always recognize as "unkown device" and trying to update the driver result in failure : "the update hasn't be done"

I tried connecting my phone on another PC (which is not win10) and it worked fine.

I have tried enabling the Debug USB option then my phone notified that the connection was enable but PC companion doesn't find anything...

This all mean that i cannot make any update, save, file transfert...

If anyone has a clue, don't hesitate, it would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the community.

I'm not the best when it comes to PC issues so may not be able to help much. But, have you tried other USB ports and cables? So you have another computer that you can test it on?

I tried all the USB port on my pc.

I don't have other USB cable that fit my phone's port, but since my phone is detected on another pc, the cable is not the problem.

Do you experience any problems identifying any other devices connected to your PC?

Try these methods one after the other. Verify after each method whether the problem was solved, before trying the next one.

• Check your firewall and make sure that Sony Ericsson Update Engine.exe and PCCompanion.exe are allowed to access the Internet. For instructions, refer to the user guide for the firewall.
• Check your proxy settings. If you are trying to update your device when connected to a corporate network, you might be using a proxy. Contact your network administrator for further assistance.
• Check that Java is up to date on your computer.
• Uninstall and PC Companion, download the installer again and re-install it.
• Restart the computer with your phone turned on and plugged in and try again.

You could also try uninstalling PC Companion and installing the new Xperia Companion and see if you have any better luck. Xperia Companion should contain all the drivers for your phone.

About the first method: There is no issue comming from the proxy settings or the firewall ( i already checked the settings and disable firewall but nothing has worked better).

I tried uninstalling, installing Companion then reboot the PC while ths phone was still connected: When the PC start turning on, my Phone finally had the notification saying "internal memory connected" but it was not charging up. Then, when the PC finished loading, there was a little pop-up from Companion saying "Your (null) is connected". I opened Companion but it didn't manage to connect to anyting ( just like before ). I then tried to use the manual connection on Companion but it stuck on the second step and nothing happens ( the Phone still has its "internal memory connected" ).
This second step also said to try reconnecting the Phone if nothing is detected in 30 sec, and when i do this, the Phone's notification disapear and now start charging up but still nothing on Companion.

Plus, while the memory is "connected" the Device Manager still detect the Phone as "unknown device"

As for the second method, i tried both PC Companion and Xperia Companion with the same result...
