Xperia SP WIFI range ISSUE

Hi, i have just bought Sp 2 days back

I am facing wifi range problem the device does not catch the range where my other phone catches the range at good wifi signal strength.

the distance is like 3 to 5 meters less then my black berry

Is there any settings that i need to see for the wifi range.

I've been having the same problems since I bought it a month ago. I used to have an Xperia Arc S with the same problem that was resolved through a software update a few weeks after the initial ICS update. I am hoping that Sony will really pay attention to this problem ASAP since I really like the Xperia SP and the wifi performance is the biggest drawback so far along with a few bugs in the Walkman app. If Sony won't be able to resolve the SP's wifi issue within another month's time, I will simply ask for a refund and ditch Sony smartphones for good. I feel sorry for the Xperia SP, such a great product wasted because of incompetent software engineering.

I just got the phone today and realised the wifi range problem! I hope Sony will make a software update about it, this problem simply can't acceptible with the new smart phones.

If Sony won't do anything about it and ignore/won't accept the mistake, I'll make sure no-one that I know will buy any Sony products in the future.

Wake up Sony!  Angry_Face

Xperia SP has worst wifi.

even if the signal is excellent it keeps dropping the signal and when i see the setting it says that there is no wifi network for around 5 second and after that it connects again.

And sony always give shit advices like repair from sony companion! which it guranteed not to work.

Sony is surely ignoring the coustomer

even 5k mobile has better wifi connectivity

I found out that the dropping/picking up of wifi signals interferes with other apps. When I'm listening to music and the phone drops/connects the signal, the music stutters. When I'm playing a game, same problem: visuals tend to slow down... Really annoying.

So its been a month since I've purchased this handset and till date I regret my decision. From day one,  I'm experiencing loss of wifi signal or a very short signal strength just from the other room. Both my Samsung and Nokia catch 3 or 4 towers easily without any sort of fluctuation but my xperia sp balances itself between one and zero. I've given my phone to the service center two times and received it back today and unfortunately the problem still persists. I talked to the customer support regarding this issue but they're unable to provide a legitimate solution. I'm planning to draft a letter to the senior most manager for a refund, failing to comply,  i'll head over to the high court. I've spent money not for a broken device,  and I want it to function properly. Its as simple as that. I really love this phone but this wifi issue and heating issue has got Sony in a very bad light towards my eyes. I'm never going to purchase anything from this company nor recommend anyone for the same. Such utter shame.

Hopefully this is a solution for all of you, it sure was for me.

I've had the same issues with the short range and disconnecting/reconnecting wifi.

Searched the web, messed arround in my router settings and actually got to a web page: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-basics/30664-5-ways-to-fix-slow-80211n-speed

My fixes were: set the router only on the 80211n - not b,g,n just n

set the "Channel Width" to 20 - default was 20/40

Just these 2 settings and I have a continuous fully working wifi.

The other devices I have that use the wifi work the same(were not affected).

My router is a National Phone Company (in am from Romania) but the maker is Huawei

In any case you should find these settings in the WLAN settings area of the router.

Trust me guys I was just as frustrated as all of you but the phone works great, it's just a little pretencious to the wifi settings. I am not a router wizz, what I did i feel anyone can do.

If it works for any of you please post a response.

Would like to mention that I have tried Wifi signal booster apps with no succes before this fix.

That's fine for your own house, but what about when you are out and about or on holidays using a hotel's wifi?

Setting the router that way also didnt help..

Even the cheap chinese phones worth 1/5 the cost of xperia sp can catch a better signal..

I am really waiting for the fix..

Hi,

I was thinking about buying an Xperia SP, I was almost decided to do it but after reading this and other forums I'm not buying it till a explanation or solution is given by Sony. What a pity! Sony you must do something, your custormers are wating!!!!!
