EE wifi calling on Xperia xz1 compact

Is it possible to make WiFi calls on EE with the Xperia xz1 compact? Can't seem to find any settings to switch it on.

Got it from carphone warehouse. Beginning to think that was a big mistake.

Nah, just as youve possibly found out by now, ee only support those services on their own firmware, like o2 do.

So you'd need ee firmware.

Is there an easy way to get that? Asked the tech support woman over the phone but she didn't seem to know much and kept saying that I'd have to try and get out of my contract with carphone warehouse and go with EE direct which means another new phone and messing about...if carphone warehouse would let me out. Would've thought they'd be able to update this phones software, even if for a fee.

You can flash the ee firmware, that might work.

How would I do that? And is it likely to do any permanent damage if it goes wrong?

Flashing the EE software does enable wifi calling on EE (this is confirmed by ME)
