Camera soft buttons come and go while camera tries to focus

Hi! My camera on-screen buttons disappear whenever its trying to focus. It gives me a hard time to take pictures. This happens regardless of the settings or mode the camera is on. Because of this I was forced to use Google camera. Does anyone here know how to fix this problem? Thanks!

Can you check if the same occurs in safe mode?

Thanks for your response. I just tried it and the same thing happens. It happens mostly when the subject is near.
By the way I don't if this helps, but before I updated my z2 to the latest lollipop version 23.4.A.1.232, I didn't experience this problem.

One thing you can try: settings-apps-all-camera,force stop and clear data. Restart.

Same thing happened. I think it's the software because Google camera is working perfectly fine. Maybe I should wait for the next os update?

I have the same device as you, haven't seen this problem. Can you try to perform a software repair using PC Companion?

My M4 Aqua also does it....and if I keep the phone vertical and turn it  to the left so that the rear camera lense faces me, the onscreen "soft"button goes off the screen with a beep....that beep is the camera trying to focus....
There is nothing wrong other than that....I see it as a problem with the camera software not  being able to cope with the lense being to close as in a few inches to over twelve ...
A sensor probelem?
Regardless of resetting everything or even putting original software back, still does it.

Alexdon, in terms of the problem isolation and having figured out the cause of the problem with the troubleshooting steps you provided, yes the issue was resolved. But I guess I'll have to wait for the android software update.
