Hi guys. Here's my problem.
I'm from Argentina, where LTE only works with Band 4 (1700/2100). I bought the 6653 version witch don't have 1700... so i can't connect to LTE.
Is there any chance to unlock that frequency so i can connect to LTE? Rooting the phone? Installing a new O.S. from another country? How?
Thank you very much!

700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20) - D6603
700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 20) - D6643
700 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 (Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 40) - D6653
700 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 (Bands 2, 4, 12) - D6616
It's not about unlocking as its a hardware limitation, in other words if you want your phone to work with that carrier/network you will need a phone that support that band (4)
700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20) - D6603
700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 20) - D6643
700 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 (Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 40) - D6653
700 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 (Bands 2, 4, 12) - D6616
I believe it's a chip that determines what bands it works on however search XDA to see if there is a way of doing it but I doubt very much it is possible
It wont work since i think sony has diffirent chip for 3G and such i think it's one named after Qualcomm cpu chip, so mostlikely it wont be possible to use LTE at all on your device and unlocking it in Android does not help it will mostlikely fail to read for any LTE.
Thank you guys.
Now my question is: Why Sony sell so many different versions of the same phone? It's not easier to sell a phone with ALL BANDS available and done?.
And, the other question is:
There are any other differences between D6553 version and the, for example, D6503 version? Apart from the frequencies.
Exactly the same phone just the 4G LTE frequencies. There might be few extra apps or few less apps, this varies per region/ network.
So, for the next time, if i'm buying a Cell Phone from USA or Europe (Living in Argentina) i should pick the version with more frequencies at all?
This doesn't make sense in the way Sony makes them exactly the same but with less frequencies. Why they do that? Who will buy a D6653 version if there is a D6603 version that it's the SAME, costs the same money and have more frequencies?
Samsung do the same as to do lots of other manufactures so not just Sony - different countries have different laws and one phone does not fit all
