I recentlly had to retore my phone to a previous backup. However, now when I go to Contacts, I only see local groups.
When I go to my gmail account on a computer web browser, I see the all my contact and my groups that I have made. So the groups still exist.
But on my phone, when I open Contacts, I see all my contacts, I see my favourites, but when I click on groups, it only shows me local groups, not the groups that exist on my gmails account.
Anyone encounter that problem? Anyone have a solution.
If I make a new gmail group on my phone it will appear on the group tab on my phone contact app and I see that group when I launch gmail on my computer web browser.
But if I make a new group via computer browser, and gmail, it will not show up on my phone in the group tab.
Hopefully this makes sense.
I'm have xperia z5, Android version 5.1.1
(FYI, I upgraded to Marshmellow, but had the "Cannot Run PlayStore" error. That's why I backed up and restored. Lots of headaches later, I restored to older back up. Adding all my apps one by one. Painful but no big deal. But... this contact thing is bugging me. I use groups a lot and I don't want to have to recreate all of them typing on my phone.

Hmmm... that worked. However, before my original post, I went into Contacts... Settings... Filter and for gmail account I added check marks to all my groups (the groups were listed there) but then when I exited out of settings and went back to Contacts, they still didn't show up.
But now that i just tried it for the 3rd or 4th time, they are showing up. So problem solved.
Yes, thank you for your help. Its very much appreciated.
