Hi there!
Following instructions to connect my android device (Xperia Z1 c6906) to Android Studio, I tried to download a USB driver for Windows here: http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-z1-c6902-c6903-c6906-c6943-driver/. The driver that is linked here, however, is (apparently) not for the devices listed, but for the Xperia Z1 ZUltra.
Can someone please fix the link or direct me to a Sony site where I can download the correct driver?
(I have seen the driver listed on non-Sony sites, but I'm not inclined to trust them.)
(I didn't try the Z1 Ultra driver that is mistakenly linked (or mistakenly named).)
Thank you!

What if you install PCC > restart your computer > disable your firewall and antivirus > connect your phone

I don't think we're talking about the same thing.
I'm just following the instructions given for Android Studio here:
http://developer.android.com/tools/device.html
http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html
As far as I know, PC Companion doesn't allow for debugging apps in Android Studio. But I'm just going by what I have read.
Just give it a shot, its not to replace Android studio
Okay, Uliwooly, I gave it a shot. Thanks for your interest and encouragement.
Good news... I was able to connect my Xperia to Android Studio for debugging. I hope to report the actual steps taken soon. For now, just to answer the question about the driver being unavailable for download, it seems that an additional driver is not needed. Apparently the driver is already included, presumably with PC Companion.
Uliwooly, you were on the right track, so kudos to you. I didn't have to touch my firewall settings. And I don't think I actually started up PC Companion.
Anyway, as soon as I am able, I will report the steps taken to make the connection to Android Studio for debugging, just in case someone else has the same issue and comes across this discussion.
Thank you!
Keep us updated.
Okay...
I thought there was something more that I did, but I guess not. I guess that having PC Companion installed was all there was to it.
I'll give the credit to Uliwooley. I trust his instructions for installing PC Companion are correct.
Still, I hope that someone will correct the link to the driver download.
Glad to hear that you got it working
As you say, installing PC Companion will install the drivers you need.
But i can't find any issue with the driver on the link in the first post. I don't have any C6906 here as this model is not available in my market but it works fine with C6903 so it should work with C6906 as well.
