What app to use to transfer files wirelesly from PC to phone and vice versa

Hello All,

So I got my new Z3 Compact, and maan what a phone.. Anyway, let's not linger on the **bleep** kissing, and let me get into it..

I got it to connect wirelesly to my PC, and entered File Commander (the phone's preinstalled app), where you can see Remote Files. When you press it, you have Add remote account, but here is where i got stuck. I press Remote Shares, then tap the + button to add Windows share.

My question is, what do I input in those fields, to make it connect to my PC? I also have ES File Explorer, that could help with this, but again, I have no clue how to get it to work with my PC. Are there any other apps out there, besides AirDroid, that could do the trick? I don't like AirDroid that much, and thought that there would be a native solution for my issue.

Any help would be ever so much appreciated!

Thanks again!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

To be able to access files stored on your PC from the phone you need to share the disk/folder that you want to access first. To share a disk or folder in Windows, right click it, select Properties and then click the Sharing tab. You can find more information here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/share-files-and-folders-over-the-network-from-windo...

When you then add the share in the phone you need to enter:

"Host" which is your computers name (see Controlpanel -> System)

"Share" which is what you named the shared disk/folder

Username/password which is the credentials you have in your PC

Rickard, you're da man!

Thanks alot! Your advice worked like a charm! One thing though, I had to set a password for my Windwos account, since it was not working without it. But now, all is well in the world!

Thanks again!

Glad to hear that i could help Slightly_smiling_Face

I would not recommend it but if you did not previously use any password in your PC and want to continue using your computer without password you can configure Windows to logon automatically: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee872306.aspx

Well, it's my personal desktop computer, so apart from my girlfriend (which rarely touches it), nobody accesses it. Are there any other concerns for which i should not use this automatic logon, like.. hackers and such? Cos the local part (people accessing this PC) is solved. Winking_Face

According to Microsofts page, automatic logon only concerns physical access to the PC so there will be no difference compared to before when you were not using any password.
