I turn on wifi, go to setup guide, download settings for inertnet and MMS = yes, finished.
restarted the phone, once the hpone goes to home screen, there was a mobile network status on top right and "mobile data is disabled" status on the status bar(top left),
But actually my data icon indicator is on with wifi, so when i turn off wifi, i cannot browse internet.
Under Settings > Data Usage > Mobile Data = on
Is this phone problem or my provider problem?
Someone please help, thanks.

hi, just an update, my problem was from my provider, now everything is ok
go to settings/ more.../ mobile networks/
then tick the Mobile data traffic
this should fix it.
it also has a shortcut in the notification area. you just tap the icon near the settings and you are connected again.
hi jagthesoldier,
yes, it's already ticked under more>mobile network, and it was a "selected mobile network" status on top right i mention when the phone just started.
I'll reset factory like you said, and update here.
thanks
factory reset from Settings > Backup and reset > Reset phone > Erase everything, did not solve the mobile data problem.
Hihi
currently I'm also experiencing the same problem.
mobile data is unavailable even after mobile data traffic is ticked.
tried using SIM card of singtel and M1.
so I doubt it's the provider problem.
I had this problem yesterday - turns out the Z needs some APN details entering from your mobile provider. You should be able to find the settings via a Google search.
Just create a new APN with the settings specific to your network and you should be good to go.
HTH.
this is because of provider maybe. is your line from singtel/ M1 new? because sometimes it will take a day for your data connection to be enabled.
or else contact your operator for this matter. i think as told by beckettonbass here that you need some apn to enter yourself.
try the steps in this link

Hi, I'm using M1, it's a new line.
This morning i called M1 asked for replacement, but they asked me to go to sony.
person at Sony service center said, my phone got problem, with the network, as he also use sony xperia, but different model, he said that mobile data should automatically detect when our phone is turn on, no need to do any setup and no need wifi connection to do a settup because can get the settings from our sim. I'm not sure about this.
So I went to M1 and replaced my defected device, because I have a dead pixel. after replaced, i tested the internet and still cannot. I asked M1 staff to try to put in other sim card to see if mobile data can be used, but they did not try this.
M1 staff told me they'll check my line service and get back to me by tomorrow.
So I really not sure if this is because of a new line subscription or really defected product, if this is defected product, sony need to recall this product maybe whole batch goes to Singapore got issue.
@BECKETTONBASS
I found a lot of M1 settings there, will try one by one then.
my auto detect settings is "sunsurf mobile". have you tried to turn off and turn back on your phone
and see if you need to setup again?
@jagthesoldier
Yes, I'm under new line, but i registered since 28 feb, already 3 days. And salesperson and the manager there told me (on 28 feb) i can use the mobile data that night or the next day.
@sasha
when i check my mobile data, sometime it select 2G, beuh....
but i read at M1 fb page, they had a problem on internet connection, but not sure if this happen to mobile too.
btw my activity area around paya lebar, eunos, marine parade, I'm not sure if M1 signal is bad on this area.
I noticed when i turn on the phone, there is a "mobile data is disconnect" notification on the status bar (top left), but the icon actually is on.
i just tested,
now i can receive sms, but cannot send sms, what!!???
can receive and make a call.
terible, not sure if M1 did something to my line service
