Xperia Z1 messaging APP

Just got the new Z1 and impressed so far apart from the messaging App. Can it send messages when purely on Wifi and no network coverage? I guess I'm hoping its more like the Iphone!! Slightly_smiling_Face

MMS and SMS will go through your carrier/network, it doesn't matter which phone is, now if you use other apps such as whatsapp, viber, Gtalk/Hangouts it will go through your wifi

Hi do you know why my z1 sends the same message from viber & vice versa when I'm sending a message?
Thanks

Have you tried settings-apps-all-media storage, clear defaults?Probably it is set to send on both, even though I have not seen this before.

Since the .757 update, I've noticed that the Messaging App has been using very large amounts of 3G data in the background and keeping my phone awake for hours on end, even when not in use, and this results in high costs for the 3G connection, and a lot of battery drain as Stamina mode does not terminate the connection. I have had to disable the application, as well as force closing the processes it left open, but I would like to use it as I like it better than Hangouts for my SMSs. Has anyone else reported a similar issue? Can anyone provide some insight on why the Messaging app would need 3G Data (and why is it using background data?) since I'm only getting plain text through the carrier (as in no MMS or anything that would use data, to my knowledge). Any help is greatly appreciated!

Any update on this please? The issue with keeping the phone awake is also occurring with Google+, and has me force stopping the application manually several times during the day.
