Xperia Z3 compact message tone

Hi there......new to all this forum stuff. I have a new Xperia z3 compact and I am so frustrated trying to get a ' message ' tone out of it. All it does, is sit quietly with a little '1' by the messaging icon on the home screen. No use to me at all; I need to hear an incoming message. I have tried setting the messaging notification tone on 'default' or any of the other tones, also 'none' and within the main settings 'system' notification sound to any available sound, but still no joy. I have updated the latest software and have shut down and rebooted my phone. My friends are getting sick of me asking to text me just so I can test my new and expensive phone. Any Ideas please?

Hi there.......thanks for the help, but I got onto Sony and found within the apps setting > 'messaging' I needed to tick the little box net to 'show notifications'. Even tho' it was showing me I had text messages, apparently this also links to the sound.

Hopefully someone else reads this and solves a very frustrating problem..

Are you using any third party notification app or third party messaging app?

Thanks for the reply. I have downloaded all sorts of apps, but no apps you mention. I am using the standard sony app called 'messaging' with a blue smiley face on its side in a white rectangle.

Thanks....I just tried that. Same problem..I only get the little yellow '1' on the 'messaging' icon. No sound or vibration.

That's odd, you could repair your phone with PCC

PC Companion (PCC)

Bridge (for Mac)

In other words you don't want the notification sound to be connected to the notification on the "notification bar"?

I don't understand the issue, just check the notification option on the messaging app
