Z1 automatically reboots before it starts

Hi,

My Sony Xperia Z1 worked perfectly until Saturday. When I tried to turn it on in the morning, it asked me the pin for the sim card, but instead of showing the home screen, it rebooted right away. After that, booting process didn't even last long enough to ask for the pin. I just displays the logos Sony, Experia, Yoigo (name of the phone company), sometimes the next animation screen, and then it freezes and reboots.

I had an update pending to install, but I didn't start the process, so I think the phone system was rather stable when I turned it off on Friday evening.

My problem is that I would like to restore the system. I can't use the Android menu, because Android doesn't start at all. I would like the "factory restore menu" to come out but I haven't found out how. Booting with Power button + Volume (up or down doesn't make a difference) doesn't change anything. When I turn the phone on I just see it rebooting over and over again.

Does somebody have a clue of what's going on with the phone? or, at least, do you know how to restore it to the factory settings? Never mind if I loose all data, everything should be syncronized with my google account.

By the way, the phone is not rooted, neither have I flashed the ROM or anything like that.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Try performing a system repair as this will often fix issues after an upgrade - This will factory reset your phone

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Thanks for your reply. It worked! I thought there was a key combination that allowed to get the factory settings back without the help of a computer. However, PC Companion worked perfectly.

Thank you very much!
