Cannot access rental or purchase video via the app on my KD 48A9. When I select a video i want to purchase there is a screen message "How can I watch this" i am advised to purchase the video via a tablet or similar..... I want to purchase and watch the video on my tv. Any help out there ?

I suspect this is going to be a situation where Amazon blame Sony, and Sony blame Amazon. I would ask Amazon first as your contract to buy is with them. All Sony do is host the Prime Video application, they are not responsible for its content.
I would make sure that you are running the latest App, check for updates and your TV is on the latest software.
