My phone as just said its coruped what do I do it's a Xperia x compact
Can you post a screenshot?
Hi @Clairepinkie76, sorry to hear about this.
Is it when you are starting up the device that you receive this message, or is it when you are using the device?
If it occurs when you are trying to start up the device, it's the boot files that are corrupt and therefore the device can't be booted up as it should.
You can try and perform a software repair using Xperia Companion and see if that helps as this will reinstall the software in the device, but keep in mind that all data stored on the internal storage will be deleted when you do this and since the device can't be booted up, a backup is not possible.
Let us know if that helps!
What happens if you try pushing power and Vol up together and hold it for a while when this message appears?
@Strampke, that won't do much I'm afraid. As far as I know it's the boot files that are corrupted and only a software repair will solve it.
Same for me today. Massage: Your device is corrupted ....
I am facing to this issue second time. First fime I lost my photos from excrypted SD card from period between backups. Second time I dont use encypted SD card, only encrypted phone.
Same story as first time, I do a preventive restart becouse there was message your phone is longer not restarted. But after restart I got message about device corruption. I am really not happy, becouse I hold technical support for big corporation right now.
I tried to repair with SW Sony companion maybe more then 10 times, but many attempts got error. Thare was a little progress with each try and after so many repairs attempts it is now done. The phone is repaired and able to start.
I have never faced to similar issue on other phone. Really annoning to spend 4 hours to recover the phone. And after that try to recover some data from backups.
Hi @Kwaka, very sorry to hear about this.
It should not have anything to do with you having the phone encrypted as this is done by default since Android 6.0 and onwards as this was made mandatory by Google.
I do understand that it's very time consuming having to set up the device again and get everything as you want it, but I'm glad to hear that you were able to get the device up and running again at least.
Fingers crossed that it does not occur again!
Hi, thanks for your reply. Can I ask you, what this error message exactly means, and how it happens that device gets corrupted? It`s is a corruption of image data on eMMC ? It`s now second time. After ~1 year. It is sw or hw problem?
Thank you.
Hi again @Kwaka and you're very welcome!
I can see that it occurs on Android devices in general and from what I was able to find it out, device does a check of the operating system at each start-up and if it detects and abnormalities or that the normal security features are implemented as they should.
Just a quick question. Is the device modified in any way? I would guess it's not since you are able to perform a software repair.
I did however do some more digging regarding the encryption. In a few of our devices it's based on hardware encryption and not software based. The Xperia X Compact is one of the devices with hardware based encryption. This should not cause the unexpected behaviour though as I have seen other posts about this at our Support forum for models with software based encryption and since a software repair fixes it, it sounds more like software and not hardware.
I'm sorry but that's all the information I have about this.
Hi Jonas, thank you for your point of view and your interest.
No, the phone isn`t modified in any way. The repair thru SC SW helps but for me it`s done but it needs more try to repair the phone. Every unsuccessful try gets an error but moves progress a little bit.
Best regards
